American Visionary Art Museum, Baltimore

The astute reader, and perhaps the obsessed stalker, will remember that I mentioned way long ago that I would come back to another Vollis Simpson whirligig, and that I had one more vacation post after the dinosaurs. Here it is.
After visiting Dinosaur Land I drove to the American Visionary Art Museum in Baltimore. AVAM exhibits artists who are mostly untrained and work outside the mainstream art world. This was my fifth or sixth visit. First, I ate lunch at the museum's Joy American Cafe, where there are pennies embedded in the floor. Outside the cafe were a couple of funhouse mirrors, which are a young artists look at self-perception. I was later told that photography of the artwork is strictly forbidden. That meant I had to walk around the museum with a camera stuffed in my pants pocket. The pink poodle? It was an entry in AVAM's upcoming kinetic sculpture race.
Visit Romy and the cats. See Jennifer and Ed get married. Eat excessive amounts of barbeque. See the Andy Griffith Museum. Visit Dinosaur Land. Visit AVAM. Drive 2000 miles. Vacation done.
Next vacation begins next Thursday.
that pink poodle like thing is creepy.
and you must go on more vacations than anyone i know.

Believe it or not, after this next vacation I'll still have 4 days to burn before the end of June!
