Local, Out of Town, and...

mailboxes

Really far away. These are the mailboxes to use when sending a letter a very, very great distance. When I was in Seattle last winter I saw a lot of small graffiti with the mathematical symbol for pi. Maybe New York's answer is infinity.

Oh, and if you have the urge to tell me these are relay boxes, not boxes in which someone can drop a letter, I thank you in advance for the clarification.

I love this. Maybe because I am fascinated by letters and mail and the inner workings of the post office. Or maybe because of the repetition - the very idea of repeating infinity is strangely beautiful. It is especially beautiful on a relay box.
