View out my window as the rains began yesterday morning. Yesterday's Times real estate section briefly mentioned that a developer is going to put a 250 unit apartment building on the empty lot in this picture. According to the article the building, to be known as the Kalahari, will also have a movie theater specializing in films by African-American and Latino filmmakers. We'll see.
East Village sunset.
I unintentionally woke up really early yesterday so I went grocery shopping at Fairway before the heavy rain began and before the returning holiday travellers clogged up the store. Fairway is remarkably empty at 7:30 on Sunday mornings. Anyway, I waited out the rain by reading the paper and doing my laundry. Once the rain stopped I went shopping (mostly window shopping but does anybody know where to get a long roll of iridescent mylar? Not the four-foot wide stuff used with grow lights but a long roll that's a couple of inches wide.) and for a walk downtown where I saw this beautiful sunset.
This picture of Taipei was by my door Thanksgiving morning. Emma helped make it.
There was much crawling under the table.
I spent Thanksgiving week at my sister's. It was a lot of fun. My nieces and I played hide-and-seek and read many bedtime stories. I got to walk Emma home from school. We went to a furniture store that had a trapeze, dancing water fountains, and several jellybean sculptures. Thanksgiving dinner was at Heidi's. The food was excellent, with all the expected Thanksgiving dishes. It is a long story, but the turkey was accidentally picked up from the grocery without paying for it. It was a good turkey. For dessert my brother-in-law Dan made two pumpkin pies, Heidi made a fig tart and I made a cranberry-pear pie from a recipe I found the day before. All were delicious.
I'm taking this week off. By the looks of these photos I may have started my vacation a half-hour early on Friday afternoon. Even though I won't be in the office there's no reason why you shouldn't see what it looks like.
Which makes the better photograph, the seagull in focus and desk out of focus, or vice versa?
Discarded doll on top of an E. 7th St. dumpster. I was going to take more pictures of her deflated body but the guy who threw her out was coming back and I didn't want to know too much about their relationship.
Take a look at Tien's pictures of Julian Opie's installation at the Tweed Courthouse. Then come back here to see the movie (900K Quicktime video) that includes boss motorcycle sounds. I almost forgot I had that file.
Manhattan's last standing fire lookout tower. There were three people standing near the tower when I took out my camera. I don't know what they were up to but they quickly disappeared.
I wonder what was attached to this?
