Hearst Building

Hearst01

Hearst02

The headquarters of the Hearst Corporation is nearing completion in midtown.  Construction started on the six-story base in 1927.  The original plan was to add another twelve stories, but the Depression ended that idea.  A few years ago Hearst decided to consolidate their New York offices, scattered at several sites in midtown, into one location by completing the building.  Architect Norman Foster designed the new tower.  The triangular skeleton form the supports for the tower.  Hearst is billing the building as New York's most environmentally friendly skyscraper.
