Boaz Vaadia's Sculptures

Yo'ah with Dog (2001)

Asa (2000)

Amaryahu (2003)

Asaf (2001)

Ba'al and Yizhaq (2005)
Within the past couple of weeks Morningside Park has become the temporary home to several sculptures by Boaz Vaadia. The Friends of Morningside Park has photos of the sculptures being installed.
Vaadia is sculptor based in Brooklyn who works with natural materials found in the New York area.
All of the above sculptures are made of bronze, bluestone and a boulder. The layers of bluestone are hand-carved and stacked. Vaadia then bolts and glues them together for safety and permanence.
Amaryahu can be found at 114th and Broadway. The rest of the sculptures are scattered in and around Morningside Park. An additional sculpture is at 117th and Broadway, but I haven't seen it yet. The sculptures are part of a city-wide celebration of the 40th anniversary of Arts in the Parks.
The Vaadia sculptures will be around until December. There's a permanent installation featuring Asaf and Yo'ah on the 58th St. side of the Time-Warner Center.
I really enjoy these pieces. I'm glad they will be displayed for all to see and be inspired by.
