Neighborhood Greenery

Eharlem_corn

Chair_tree

On this evening's bike ride I saw corn growing on a corner in East Harlem.  No ears yet and the stalks weren't nearly as high as an elephant's eye.  When I got home I noticed that a chair had climbed into one of the trees in front of my building.  Why did the chair climb up the tree?

elephant's eye?

I've noticed corn-like plants like that coming up from bird seed. But I wonder if it's really corn. Maybe it's millet?
