Money alone cannot buy an election. If that were the case, our history would include presidents Rockefeller, Forbes and Perot, and New York would have seen governor Golisano.

That said, most votes are bought, but they are usually bought with tax payer's dollars, not a person's personal funds. As a tax payer, I would rather have someone buy their votes with their own money than use my money to do so.
