Officer's housing within Fort Jay.

On Saturday I took a tour of Governor's Island National Monument. The island hasn't been open to the public for more than 200 years. The island was recently returned to the state of New York by the federal government and the National Park Service is leading tours of the National Monument portion of the island. Lots more pictures can be found here.
i saw governor's island for the first time this past week on a circle line cruise. how do you get onto it? it looks interesting..

The park service gave tours the past few months. They might give them again in the spring. The tours fill up quick (it is a long story, but I literally saw dates sell out as I was reloading their web page, governorsislandnationalmonument.org) so you have to act fast.I seem to now be on their mailing list, so i can let you know if I hear anything.
Okay, I'm using a weird interface on my hotel room's tv ad i can't tell if this looks like crap or nto,
