Another photo gallery, this time of Manhattanville, has been occupying my time so I only have a brief entry for today.
This evening was an Upper West Side evening. I started with a very nutritious dinner of two dogs and a papaya drink at Gray's Papaya. I followed that with a delightful cream puff from Beard Papa's. Let's see, I first went to Beard Papa's on March 8th. My fourth visit was tonight. So I'm averaging a cream puff a week for the past month. No, wait, I was in Philadelphia for nearly a week, so I'm actually averaging one-and-a-third cream puffs per week since Beard Papa's opened. Well, I said I'd go back. For the first time in my several visits there was no line.
My purpose for going to the Upper West Side was to hear Phillip Lopate read from his book, "Waterfront". I've been reading the book for a couple of weeks and really enjoy it. Lopate describes the history and development, or lack thereof, of Manhattan's waterfront in a series of essays based on walks he did around the island. Unlike Friday night's reading with Tom Perrotta at the Lincoln Center Barnes and Noble, there were no security guards tonight. I guess being all of fifteen blocks further uptown makes a big difference?
I was at the bookstore sooner than expected so I walked up to the corner to take a picture of a strangely placed object that I shall not reveal just quite yet. Harry's Shoes is at the corner. The long-time reader will remember this conversation I overheard back in October. The shoe store was closing as I walked by, but guess what? The customer in the conversation was leaving the store! That was totally bizzare.
I love coincidences (or synchronicities) like these!

Have you ever picked up the phone to call someone and that person is on the other end of the line without you dialing?
