Just a few of the sights at Dinosaur Land, in White Post, Virginia. Forty dinosaurs, a few prehistoric mammals, a giant gorilla, and many other creatures make this a charming place. This was my second visit to Dinosaur Land. Although the furry caveman was gone, a velociraptor had been added. Their gift shop is not to be missed. Many plastic animals and Elvis souvenirs! They have some great old postcards from when it opened in the mid-1960s.
Dinosaur Land is the most charming of the fiberglass dinosaur parks I've visited. Sadly, while researching the other parks for this post I learned that the Prehistoric Forest in Marblehead, Ohio no longer issues toy machine guns to protect yourself from attacking beasts. Even more sad, the Prehistoric Forest in the Irish Hills of Michigan is closed and the dinosaurs are crumbling. The moral of the story is: visit Dinosaur Land so it doesn't go the way of other dinosaur parks!
Many more photos from Dinosaur Land. Note: some of the scenes are filled with dinosaur gore.
you weren't kidding when you said dinosaur gore! and if they were going for realism, why do they have king kong there?

The mix of different types of creatures is what gives this place its charm. I mean, why limit yourself to dinosaurs if you have have a 90-foot octopus, a giant praying mantis and King Kong!

When we went to Dinosaur Land back in 1992, my boys really enjoyed "shotting" the scary dinosaurs. Realism is everywhere when you're 4 years old. The more creatures, the better. It was just plain fun, even for my husband and I.
I hope we can take our grandkids there.
