You know, the nice thing about the web is I can put anything I want on this site. The other nice thing is that the reader can go elsewhere as I detail the minutiae of my trip.
Lexington, NC advertizes itself as the barbecue capital of the world. They claim to have more barbecue joints per captia than anywhere else. The most famous place, Lexington Barbecue, was closed on Sunday so I didn't get to eat there. Don't let the lack of exterior decor fool you, Jimmy's was quite good.
After eating at Jimmy's I walked around downtown Lexington. Nearly every business was closed downtown. I have no idea what the deal is with the bandaged, armless mannequin in the shoe store. Didn't really look like a draw for window-shopping customers.
Figuring I would have a better chance at a hotel room near Winston-Salem, I drove on. Bad idea. The International Furniture Fair, or something like that, was holding their Spring meeting in Greensboro, and many hotels were filled-up in Winston-Salem. I tried about five different places, including a rather seedy Days Inn, before finding a place on the north side of town.
