You know what? My niece Zoe is three today. Happy Birthday, Zoe!
I caught the second half of the women's bicycle race this morning. The skies were dark and it was raining pretty steadily when I got there so these pictures aren't that great. That's the winner, Mari Holden, in the bottom photo. Even with the rain she averaged 25 mph.
Story behind the story: The photo of Holden on the cycling tour page is staged. The photographers didn't get a clean photo when she crossed the finish line so it was re-enacted.
Soaking wet, I wandered around the expo for a while and walked up to Union Square via stops in Chinatown (for tea and a mung bean bun) and the Lower East Side (for a cinnamon roll, more on that later). Along the way I ran into this Swoon appropriate street art:
