View out my office when it was snowing this afternoon.
I was taking a look at lightningfield.com this evening when I saw a link that reminded me of when I lived in Bowling Green, Ohio. Around the time I moved there in 1990 it was becoming very popular for people to put life-sized cement geese in their yards. The geese were either unpainted or painted white. More importantly, the geese were dressed and the type of clothes changed with the season. As the year progressed you might see Christmas geese, Easter geese, graduation geese, summer geese, patriotic geese, football geese, etc... I remember reading in either the Toledo Blade or the BG Sentinel-Tribune that the lawn goose dressing pasttime had its origins in northwestern Ohio (Lawn Goose Designs, based in Colorado, says the tradition started thirty years ago).
Today on lightningfield.com there was a link to a story on Eye Control, a Toledo-based website. Crazy Engineer at the time in Lima, Ohio, has also written about lawn geese.
