Crossing over the Broadway Bridge. That's the Henry Hudson Bridge in the background.
The Target store in Marble Hill from the 225th St. station.
I rearranged these wall blocks to spell the names of a couple of my nieces.
Anyone know anything about this arch at 216th and Broadway? Update: I knew I should have looked at Forgotten-NY. Update #2: I found more at Washington Heights-Inwood online.
Not content with getting soaked at the greenmarket, I went up to the Target in Marble Hill on Saturday afternoon. Marble Hill is the part of Manhattan that is on mainland North America. It was once attached to the rest of Manhattan Island, but became detached when the Harlem River was re-routed years ago. A Target store opened in Marble Hill a few months ago. I had not yet gone there but I was in need of a cheap, yet stylish, desk lamp.
Coincidentally, Sunday's New York Times had a story about the elevated subway that runs through Upper Manhattan.
it's a good thing they have short names.

Yes, I was already getting strange looks from other customers, especially when I took out the camera.

Until 3 years ago I lived on 238th st. I always wondered about that arch but didn't know about Forgotten-NY.com. What a great website!

The Forgotten site is great. If you ever get a chance be sure to take one of Kevin's tours. I found more about the arch on the Washington Heights-Inwood website (link above).
