Okay, I could have done a bit better on the transition in this one!

The Hays Production Code was the set of voluntary guidelines the movie studios imposed on themselves in 1930. There wasn't any enforcement to the code until 1934. The interim was none as the pre-code period, when certain studios would try to get away with as much naughtiness as possible.
