I'll get to the Germany pictures in a few days. First, I have to finish my Great Plains trip.
I left off with hints of M. T. Liggett's iron sculptures. There are a few hundred of them spread over about a mile of highway just west of Mullinville. Many of the sculptures are notable for their biting humor or whimsy. A lot of them poke fun at the follies of local and national politicians. Some of his newer work reminds me of Jim Flora's album cover art of the 1940s and '50s.
All in all a great reason to visit southwestern Kansas (as if the world's largest hand-dug well wasn't attraction enough)!
nifty!
