If you're visiting Ohio you better get there before five o'clock. I stopped at the welcome center on I-90 just across the state line at a couple minutes past five. The welcome center was closed. I needed those brochures and the official Ohio travel guide to help plan the trip! Ah, well, there was a stack of discount lodging books so I took one of those and made a half-price reservation at a Hampton Inn off exit 156 on the west side of Cleveland.
Exit 156 turned out to be Crocker/Bassett Road, a place I had been many times in the mid-90s. Bassett Road is the home of Bonne Bell. Lip Smackers are made in that building in the background.
The Giant Eagle supermarket in the Crocker Mall may not look like much, but a reliable inside source told me that former Cleveland Indians second baseman Carlos Baerga used to do his grocery shopping there and that he was a very nice guy.
