This has taken me forever to put up but there are a half-dozen grand old movie theaters along Mission Ave in the Mission District of San Francisco. I passed by them a couple of times while searching for burritos. All the theaters are closed. The auditorium of the El Capitan was demolished in 1964. The Cine Latino and Tower Theaters both opened in the 1910s. The Tower is for sale for less than $2.4 million!
What a crying shame!?
Does this mean there is no audience in this district for Film?
It looks as if it might be culturally diverse.
In the UK it is practically impossible to see anything other
than certain Blockbuster Biggies which are on at every cinema
everywhere. We have a little Arthouse cinema in the Arts Centre where I live in Plymouth. But its almost easier to rent or buy non blockbusters. I wanted to see Stellet Licht on the Big screen and had to go to London on the train.(4hours) It was on in 1 cinema in UK!! I am glad I went though.
However these all look like interesting buildings in there own right. Do you know what they are like inside?
