Seven Trees

Happy Earth Day!  As part of the ongoing Million TreesNYC campaign the city recently planted seven trees in the middle of the sidewalk on St. Nicholas between 118th and 119th streets.  Was that intentional or should the trees have been planted next to the street like every other street tree?
