Here's a few changes underway on Frederick Douglass Blvd. The Triangle Cafe is allegedly going to open in the handsome triangular building between 120th and 121st. I haven't seen much construction going on there lately though.
My crack reportage from five years ago about the auto repair shop at 116th and Frederick Douglass was slightly off. The repair shop reopened for a few years. Now, however, it is gone for good and should be replaced by a restaurant with a massive amount of outdoor dining space later this year. If the restaurant is any good it has the potential to be the place to be in Harlem.
Down the street Levain Bakery is set to open any time now. Levain makes the biggest, best and most expensive cookies in Manhattan so I might be 300 pounds and broke by the end of the year.
