March is off to a good start!
Over the weekend the beer disappeared from its home downstairs at the Best Yet Market on Frederick Douglass Blvd. There was a sign saying the beer section had been moved upstairs. I didn't think much of it because it was Sunday morning and I had my fill of beer on Saturday. I walked by this evening and there was a sign outside proclaiming that the biggest selection of craft beers in Manhattan could be found upstairs.
I went upstairs.
It's true! The store got rid of their little cafe/housewares section and replaced it with an emporium of beer. There are two more aisles of beer in addition to that pictured above. Good beer, bad beer, expensive beer, cheap beer, domestic, imported, bottles and cans. All sorts of beer. It's kind of warm up there for beer so hopefully they will improve the climate control.
Also on Frederick Douglass, the much anticipated Levain Bakery opened today. Levain makes the richest, biggest cookies in the city. Their chocolate peanut butter chip cookie is as big as a California Condor! Unlike the endangered bird you don't have to feel guilty about eating them. Even though the cookies are four dollars each, they do feed more than one person (if you've got some self control).
More places for me to visit next time I come. That cookie looks soooo good.
