I knew I wanted to spend a day or two in Portland on this trip but, other than visiting Powell's, I didn't have any particular thing I wanted to see or do. That resulted in a lot of pointless walking around and not much picture taking. I did get to see Portlandia, the second largest copper repoussé sculpture in the United States.
is it possible to say you prefer one city to another? difficult i think, since each city has it's own panache.
but if you could, which would you choose to be able to explore more, Seattle or Portland?

Excellent questions! I like both cities a lot, but I'd choose Seattle. It is bigger, more diverse, more dynamic, less insular, and I find it more interesting overall.
