Nirvana's Nevermind came out twenty years ago today. On my last day in Seattle I went to the Experience Music Project to see the excellent Nirvana: Taking Punk to the Masses exhibit. Having just attended a geography conference a week before I really appreciated how the museum put Nirvana's sound into the context of the different "sounds" emerging across various towns in the Pacific Northwest in the late 1980s.
It can't be read at this size but the text at the top of the middle photo says "If anyone has a problem with his d___ we can remove it." Ouch. The lower text says they can also remove the pool floor, which is what was done for the album cover.
