Introduction

When I lived in Nyack I would often do my laundry at a place in Central Nyack. One time I happened to walk into the wooded area next to the laundromat and discovered what appeared to be a forgotten cemetery. The area was overgrown with trees and there was only a vestige of a lawn. Graves were scattered about. Some gravesites looked like the caskets had been removed. The most recent grave I saw was 1982.

I found it puzzling that a cemetery could be so forgotten and wanted to take pictures of the place. Earlier this week I read about the Forgotten NY tour of Prospect Cemetery, an abandoned cemetery in Queens. Reading about that tour on the Satan's Laundromat site reminded me of the Central Nyack cemetery and prompted me to take pictures yesterday before the underbrush comes out and obscures everything.
