Saturday, October 1, 1864

started for Washington left
Mr Cains at 8 O clock
got to Roam (Rome) at 9.30 left
at 12.20 got to Syracuse at
2.30 left at 6. got Binghamton
9.40 P.m, left at 4 O,clock
in the morning I am very
lonesom plenty time to think
of the happy times I had at
home

Sunday, October 2, 1864

this morning I find myself
in Elmira a the soldiers home
cant go threw to Baltimore til
4.20 in the morning in
I go up to the Rebel
Prisenor camp they appear
to be comfortabal they hav
about 11 thousand now

Monday, October 3, 1864

I was routed up and took
the 4 Oclock train for
Williamsport, PA got into
Washington about 9.30 in
the eavening staid all nite
at a hotell as it was dark
and I could not posibaly
walk so far after dark

Tuesday, October 4, 1864

got up took brexfest
and started for the
hospital. got up there and
reported and and was asigned
to Ward C and wer heare
before the sergeon made his
rounds in the morn

Wednesday, October 5, 1864

got my furlon and went down
town town and drew my pay
on my furlough 116 dollars
and Expressed 75 to my
Brother at Sandy Creek N.Y.
wrote a letter to my wife
sent th resipt in the letter.

("town town" is Vincent's)

Thursday, October 6, 1864

got a pass went down town
drew my rations mones
7, 25 ct sent to Libbie
8 pictures and Phy a
letter put them in the
ofice myself

Friday, October 7, 1864

laid around the hospital all
day wrote a letter to Mary
and send her a prety
little patern that I
had caried since Jan
1863 one that cut at
Jane and the triming
was but on by Libbie
2 weeks ago

it is rather lonesom
cold weather today the
wind is keain (?) I get a
watch key that fits
and eat a fiew nuts
and day goes round
afternoon
goes off rather liveler

phy a paper fire
